Hi, I’m Sarah

 

I was born in the 80s and have spent my whole life in a small village in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, surrounded by open fields and arable countryside. The outdoors has always been a huge part of who I am.

 

Over 12 years ago, I met my husband, and through him I became even more immersed in outdoor life—getting involved in shooting, field sports, fishing, and everything that comes with a busy countryside lifestyle.

 

At home, life is just as full! We have our two children (what we call our “Irish twins,” born in 2020 and 2021), our three beautiful Lakeland Patterdale Terriers—Maisey, Charlie, and Kizzy—and a lively collection of animals including Pekin Bantams, Black Rock hens for fresh brown eggs, and even a handful of ferrets.

How Sarah Ann Outdoors Began

 

Spending so much time outdoors, I quickly realised how important good clothing is. But for years, I struggled to find ladies’ hunting, shooting, and fishing wear that was both practical andaffordable. When you’re paying £150 or more for a jacket or trousers, you find yourself worrying about ruining them—when really, outdoor clothing should be made to be used.

 

As I started building my social media pages, I realised I wasn’t alone—so many other women were having the same problem.

 

That’s when Sarah Ann Outdoors was born.

 

I began by designing and selling a few pieces through Instagram, then took things further by attending game fairs across the country. I’d hand out leaflets and even carry stock in a fully loaded rucksack—often having ladies stop me to ask if I had leggings available there and then!

 

After two years of growing demand, I decided it was time to make things official and launch the Sarah Ann Outdoors online shop.

Our Products

 

It all started with the camouflage Huntress leggings, which quickly became a customer favourite. Since then, the range has grown to include tops, hoodies, jackets, and more—available in a variety of patterns, including unique game animal prints.

 

In 2018, I wanted to create something a little different: a design that could work both in the field and in more formal settings. After weeks of testing ideas, the Tweed Effect leggings were born.

 

Launched at the start of grouse season, the “Glorious Grouse” tweed design became an instant success. Since then, the Tweed Effect range has expanded into over 12 different patterns and remains one of our most popular collections to date.
